Small Christian Communities
Early Christians prayed and broke bread together and shared their lives and sustenance. They supported one another as they retold the life of Jesus and reflected on its meaning. This was the household church that provides the structure of today's Small Christian Communities (SCC).
An SCC is a gathering of about 6 to 12 people who meet on a regular or seasonal basis in someone's home. The group prays together, is supportive of one another, and is enriched by the diversity of its members. The group reads and reflects on the scriptures, shares their faith stories, and reaches out in service to others.
the purpose of the SCC is to be an instrument of conversion; a change in our thinking, being, and acting to become more like Jesus. Conversion happens not only for the individual but for the SC participants and the entire parish community.
